TOP 5 PROMISES FROM GOD TO YOU
TRANSCRIPT
Have you ever made a promise to a child? It’s funny, children may forget to tie their shoes or wash their hands or clean their rooms, but they remember promises don’t they? And they look forward to them with great anticipation.
Did you know that God has made literally thousands of promises to us in Scripture? As God’s children, I think our Heavenly Father wants us to remember His promises and look forward to them expectantly.
Hello everyone, and welcome to another Christianity Engaged video. My name is David Erhart and today I’m going to share five promises from God that truly can change your life forever.
And now, here are my top 5 promises from God to you:
Number One. God Promises Eternal Life.
The Bible says quite simply, “this is the promise He made to us—eternal life.” [1 John 2:25] We’ve all heard those famous words spoken by Jesus in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” [John 3:16]
What exactly is eternal life? Jesus answers this question in a prayer in John 17:3. He says, “And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
Friends, sin separates us from God. But anyone can have a restored relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ, His Son. And if you do, you have the gift of eternal life.
Number Two. God Promises Peace.
If you have eternal life, then you have peace with God.
The Bible says in Romans 5:1, “since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” [Romans 5:1] What exactly does it mean to be “justified by faith”? The word justification simply means it is “just-as-if-we-have-never-sinned” because the penalty for our sins is paid for on the cross.
God wants His peace to be an anchor for your soul during the difficult storms of life. One of my favorite promises in all of the Bible is found in Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
When you’re feeling anxious or worried or sad, know that God wants to have a close relationship with you—not just in the good times but in every situation. He wants you to spend time with Him. He wants you to talk to Him and He wants you to ask him for things that will help in the matters that are troubling you. But He wants you to be thankful, even in the midst of the storm. Now, this is a whole lot easier if we go back and remember all of the times He was faithful in the past. This will give us the confidence to thank Him in advance for what He is about to do. And then, we present our requests to God and trust Him with the results. And the Bible promises peace. In fact, it says this peace “transcends all understanding” probably because nothing has changed on the outside. Everything within your situation is still the same. But everything changes on the inside. You will have a new perspective, and you will have the promise of God’s peace, which will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Number Three. God Promises Victory.
Friends, victory over temptation is possible. Do you know why? Because if you have eternal life, you are a new creation. And not only that, the Bible promises that God will not allow you to be tempted beyond your ability to endure. Listen to what the Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10:13: “There isn’t any temptation that you have experienced which is unusual for humans. God, who faithfully keeps his promises, will not allow you to be tempted beyond your power to resist. But when you are tempted, he will also give you the ability to endure the temptation as your way of escape.”
You see, the enemy wants to isolate you and make you feel like no one else understands what you’re going through. But the Bible promises that God won’t allow you to be tempted beyond your ability to endure and He will always provide a way for you to escape victoriously.
Number Four. God Promises Forgiveness.
While victory is possible, we all have different weaknesses, and we all fall short at times. If you ever feel like you just keep messing up in the same area over and over again, and maybe you question God’s forgiveness, God has a promise for you.
The Bible says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” [1 John 1:9] God is faithful, which means He will do what He says. And He is just, which means the penalty for our sins has already been paid.
So, trust and rest in some of the sweetest words in all of the Bible: “There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” [Romans 8:1] If you are in Christ, then you are covered by His righteousness, and you are holy and blameless in God’s sight.
Number Five. Jesus Promises to Come Back Again.
Jesus told his followers, "My Father’s house has many rooms. If that were not true, would I have told you that I’m going to prepare a place for you? If I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again. Then I will bring you into my presence so that you will be where I am." [John 14:2-3]
Yes, Jesus is coming back to reign on the earth just like He promised. The Bible says we can’t even fathom what marvelous blessings await those who love God. One day, He will wipe away every tear and there will be no more death or crying sorrow or pain. All of these things will be gone forever. [Revelation 21:4]
Conclusion
God is faithful and His promises never fail. In addition to these, God promises to generously give wisdom, He promises nothing can separate us from His love, He promises to meet all of our needs through Christ Jesus, and many, many more.
All of God’s promises are a precious gift to anyone who believes and follows Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. I hope this video is a blessing to you and encourages you to remember God’s promises and eagerly await His fulfillment of them. Thanks for watching and God bless you all.
